Let Me Entertain You

I've been playing and recording for over two decades now. I play everything except for the drums and the drums in my recordings are currently created on my computer using Propellerheads' Reason. I also do the singing, for what it's worth. I primarily use a Macintosh computer to do my recording, but I do occasionally use a PC for some things. The recordings found on this page were digitally captured. That is to say, they were recorded on my Macintosh using BIAS' Deck 3.5 and edited using BIAS' Peak 4.

The other equipment I use exclusively in these recordings are the POD series of amp modelers by Line 6, and I even use their Variax guitar. My other guitars include a Fender Jazz bass, a Fender Stratocaster, a Yamaha SBG 200, and my favorite guitar remains my Yamaha SG 2000, because it just plays so well. This gear teams up to give me a wide range of sounds to chose from, thereby giving me a lot of freedom to record what I like.

I'm often asked about what inspires me to write my songs and inspiration is a strange thing. I don't seek out inspiration, but I don't think inspiration works that way anyhow. I'm not sure it always finds me either. Sometimes I'll have a bit of music that I like which I play around with and then I'll be struck with an idea for lyrics that seem well suited to the piece. A few of my songs were created that way. Other times I have an idea that comes together all at once, but that's rare. Each song I've written has evolved in it's own unique way and even though some of my songs do carry somewhat similar themes, they aren't closely related.

Most of the time I just want to say something, so I write the lyrics and then try to marry them to some music. I'll try to give some background on each of the recordings here in order to give you some idea of what you're getting yourself into. I have songs inspired by love, by love lost, and I even have a song about one night stands. I've written songs about regrets, pollution, and drugs (making fun of a story someone once told me about an experience they had), but I'd have to say that a good portion of my songs are merely my attempts to understand the human condition, or portray my views of it.

We all interpret things from our own view point and people can't even observe the same thing without individual differences in perspective. Point of View, an upbeat piece of rock heavy on guitars and is a 2.7 MB download, was written to express the phenomena that limits us to defining our world based on our own experiences and how those experiences are unique to each of us, so we all see the world differently.

It's often said that moderation is the key to a happy life. I don't know how accurate that is, but I do my best to do things in moderation. Blind You, a mellow rock guitar piece with slide guitar lead and roughly a 5.5 MB download, came about as a reminder to myself to not overdo things.

One Fine Autumn is a very mellow acoustic instrumental in which I've experimented with my Variax guitar and is a 5 MB download. I originally wrote it twenty-two years ago and it's essentially two riffs complementing each other with subtle percussion.

I've made angst a life's study. Think Damn You, a near punk rock jam which is a 3.1 MB download, is essentially that anxiety put to music.

In order to hear the songs simply download the them by clicking on the link associated with their names.  Then transfer the .mp3 contained in the ZIP to your Music folder & open it with your MP3 player.

Note: The .zip may include the song lyrics as a text file.
